A cat on a short vacation: a breath of fresh air in the Leipzig Tiger Taiga

Leipzig – The Leipzig Zoo has seen a lot of animal growth in the past few weeks. So also in the new episode “Elefant, Tiger & Co.”, in which Tiger Tomak got company.

The elephant enclosure has to say goodbye to the bull Naing Thein in a timely manner, but almost at the same time it gets five new pachyderms (TAG24 reported). And the rhinoceros bull Sudan will soon start the journey to England. But no reason to mourn!

There are many new additions to the episode with the appropriate title “A Coming and Going”.

For example, the two sugary red-shouldered elephant dogs who lost their mother shortly after their birth move in. A generously equipped enclosure was prepared for them.

Up until now, the little ones were looked after at home by the animal keeper Janet, but now they too should become part of the zoo family.

After they have been fortified with plenty of milk, they can immediately start exploring the new cage. There is a lot to discover there.

Much more difficult and delicate is the entry of a predator, for which even the long-established zookeepers have a lot of respect: Tiger Aljoscha is on a short vacation in Leipzig!

In his home town of Hanover, the tiger enclosure is slowly becoming cramped, which is why Aljoscha should find a temporary home in the trade fair city for around six months.

With combined strength and a lot of muscle power, the carers heave the tiger transport box into Aljoscha’s new realm, then the exciting moment follows: the lid of the box is opened and he moves into his new home.

He seems to like it there straight away, he lets himself fall into a cozy corner and takes a breather from the long journey.

The next day, Aljoscha also takes it very slowly: When nurse Katrin greets him in the morning and opens the flap to the tiger enclosure, the newcomer blinks bored into the camera – and doesn’t move a bit. But Katrin shows patience and remains optimistic: “We have time, and obviously he too”.

In the next “Elefant, Tiger & Co.” Episode we will see whether Aljoscha has dared to go outside in the meantime. Well, as is well known, there is strength in calm!

“Elephant, Tiger & Co.” runs every Friday from 7:50 p.m. on MDR television.
