a care center for perpetrators of domestic violence planned with Charles-Perrens

By Christophe Loubes

LREM deputy Bérangère Couillard announced on Monday, June 28 the creation, by the end of the year, of a structure intended in particular to prevent recurrence in domestic violence

The Charles-Perrens hospital will pilot from the fall a care center for perpetrators of domestic violence (CPCA). This opening was announced this Monday, June 28 by the deputy (LREM) Bérangère Couillard, rapporteur of a law to protect victims of domestic violence. Support will be provided in conjunction with Secop (Crisis Assessment and Psychiatric Referral Service).

“We have long focused our work on taking charge of victims of domestic violence,” explains Bérangère Couillard, “but it quickly became clear to us that we also had to work on their perpetrators. This is necessary to avoid recurrence, the rate of which is 40% today in France. “

To support the perpetrators of this violence in their psychological problems, the management of their addictions (alcohol, drugs, etc.) and / or their difficulties in finding a job (“this is one aspect of this problem”), this will therefore be the role of this center which will not be hosted at Charles-Perrens. Its opening follows the “Grenelle” against domestic violence, which advocates the creation of two centers per region. In New Aquitaine, the one in Bordeaux will be added to the one that already exists in Limoges.

This project, led by the Charles-Perrens hospital center and the SOS Solidarités group, will cover Charente-Maritime, Dordogne, Gironde and Lot-et-Garonne. It should take care of nearly 450 perpetrators of domestic violence per year.

A second project, led by the Ajir association (Pau) will cover the Landes and the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, as well as the Hautes-Pyrénées. It should accommodate nearly 360 perpetrators of domestic violence per year. In total, 12 new care centers will be created in France.
