He Cordoba city center was the scene of a violent traffic accident when a Toyota Corolla He drove onto the sidewalk, running over several pedestrians. The incident occurred at the intersection ofChacabuco and San Jeronimo comingin an area with high pedestrian traffic.
The driver of the vehicle claimed that the brakes failed, although a witness said that the man was driving at more than 100 kilometres per hour. Authorities are investigating the cause of the accident and have not confirmed any of these versions.
As reported at least eight people were taken to the emergency hospital by ambulance. One of them is in serious condition. However, there are about 35 injured in total.

The investigation is investigating whether the driver, aged between 65 and 70, was driving under the influence of alcohol or whether he became intoxicated while driving.
