A car mechanic showed what bad thing happens if you follow the oil change regulation VIDEO

Most car manufacturers recommend changing the oil every 15,000 kilometers and Toyota is no exception. However, professional auto mechanics advise against following this dogma.

The author of the YouTube channel Car Care Nut, who is also a Toyota/Lexus diagnostic specialist, has posted a video showing what happened to the engine of a 2015 Toyota Camry at 290,000 km.

All along, the owner has changed the oil every 15,000 kilometers as recommended by the manufacturer. At about 190,000 km, the engine started to “eat” oil. Initially, consumption is within reasonable limits – up to one liter per thousand miles (1600 km). After 240,000 km, however, oil consumption increased to 2 – 2.5 liters per thousand miles.

In the end, the owner does not turn to the official service of the car manufacturer, but to the service of the auto mechanic, who also appears on YouTube. When disassembling the engine, signs of wear were found on the walls of both cylinders.

It was in these places that the oil leaked through the piston rings into the combustion chamber. According to the mechanic, the cylinders were damaged by stuck piston rings. The main cause of the problem is irregular oil changes. As a result, the Toyota Camry owner has to spend money on a new cylinder block.

According to mechanics, the recommendation to change the oil every 15,000 km applies to ideal driving conditions. If your car is often in traffic jams, travels short distances, works under load (e.g. in the mountains) or drives on dusty roads, the oil change interval should be halved – up to 8,000 km or half a year, depending of which of the two shall occur first. /auto.blitz.bg
