The evening walk was a little different for the customs dog Centa, when the labrador suddenly got the hang of work. Four people have now been charged in the case.
The incident took place on January 12.
A customs employee was out for an evening walk with Centa in a residential area in Stavanger, when the dog marked a parked car. The dog’s owner contacted the police, who responded with their own drug dog. Also marked on the car.
Inside the car, the police found over 50 kilograms of hashish and four people in their 20s and 30s were eventually charged. Two of these have been remanded in custody.
According to Stavanger Aftenblad the car must be a Norwegian-registered pizza truck.
The owner of the pizza truck was arrested when he came to the police station in Stavanger and demanded the car be handed over, says prosecuting police attorney Odd Nesse to the newspaper.
The man denies any involvement with the drugs, and claims he has lent the car.
“My client would never have gone to the police if he knew about the drugs,” says the man’s defender, lawyer Helene Haugland.
The other man who has been arrested in the case also denies guilt. It is not known how the last two charged in the case stand up to the charges.
