In the municipal elections in March, 47 of the 52 municipalities in the Wrzburg district also had to decide on the mayor positions. In a series, this editorial team interviews newly elected, re-elected or soon to be former mayors. Today: Birgit Brger (CSU). She was re-elected as Mayor of Prosselsheim.
Ms Mayor Brger, what have you achieved in the past six years?
Birgit Bger: With the expansion and renovation of the kindergarten, we as a municipality have succeeded in creating new rooms for small children, including self-cooking facilities with care for the elderly. With the inauguration and commissioning on September 14, 2018, we fulfilled a long-cherished wish of the parents.
On the cemetery in Prosselsheim, the paths to the cemetery hall were paved, the renovation of the cemetery hall and a new toilet facility were installed and the floodplain border was planted in an insect-friendly manner.
In 2016, the internet connection in the districts of Pssensheim and Seligenstadt was significantly improved.
Is this enough for you in local politics or does something have to change?
Bger: A lot of work has started and has to be completed. Therefore “keep it up” is important for the good of the citizen. So the expansion of the settlement streets in Seligenstadt and the planning of the construction area “Sonnenweg” in Prosselsheim.
What is the biggest challenge for the next six years?
Citizens: The bypass state road 2060 is urgently needed. Because with it the village renewal stands and falls and with it the improvement of the quality of life of the residents along the road through the place. My goals for the next time are: New construction of a fire department house in Prosselsheim, the renovation of the cemetery wall and the cemetery in Pssensheim. For commuting, working in close cooperation with Deutsche Bahn, improving the parking situation at the Seligenstadt train station would be my absolute timely goal and improving the PNV.
In order to meet the environmental requirements, the sewage treatment plant must be converted in close consultation with the water management office and the district office.
A building area for the Pssensheim district. The restart of the Main-Schleifen-Bahn is currently a look into the glass ball.
And it is very important to develop the community in harmony with people and nature. This is only possible with all agriculture, citizens, nature conservation, recreational athletes etc. And to make our forest fit in times of climate change in cooperation with the Office for Food, Agriculture and Forestry (AELF).
I am also looking forward to working with the future municipal council. Because the voters have put together a good, new committee.
