In Turkey, a chain accident occurred between two trucks and a passenger bus, in which the vehicles caught fire. The crash site is an interurban section of the road to the regional center of Tutak Agra in eastern Turkey.
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that 7 people lost their lives in the accident and expressed his condolences. Justice Minister Bekir Bozdag released a statement on social media: “The Tutak prosecutor has opened an investigation into the tragedy”. Health Minister Fahretin Koca announced that 11 people, two of them seriously, were injured in the accident and treatment is underway.
The accident occurred after the truck overturned and the bus traveling on the road hit it.
The passenger bus of a company from the city of Van was moving towards the city of Agra. His brake failed as he went down a steep stretch of road. It hit the overturned truck in the oncoming lane and caught fire, and the accident got worse when another truck took away the two already crashed vehicles. All three cars were engulfed in flames.
The accident resulted in the death and injury of many people and dozens of ambulances, firefighters and teams from the Directorate for Emergencies and Natural Disasters (AFAD) were sent to the scene, the Demiroren Agency (DHA) reported.
The Agra-Patnos highway was closed to traffic due to the accident. Local firefighters extinguished the burning vehicles with joint efforts.
So far, the identities of 6 people who lost their lives in the road accident have been established. Identification of the other person burned in the accident is ongoing. The bus driver was also among the dead.
The governor of Agra, Osman Varol, visited the wounded, who were immediately transported and admitted to the state hospital in the city.
He released a statement to reporters on his way out of the hospital: “This is a nightmare incident. Immediately after the fire started, our teams intervened very actively. Our emergency and disaster response vehicles, 10 ambulances. , AFAD teams and firefighters from both our municipality Tutak, as well as surrounding municipalities, responded quickly. “
“Unfortunately, we have lost 7 of our citizens due to this accident. The conditions of two of the injured are serious,” he concluded.
