A dozen firefighters intervened this Sunday morning, October 10, around 10 a.m., route d’Auron, for a bus on fire. The vehicle, from the Santa Azur company, provided the regular Nice-Auron line.
It was shortly after dropping off about twenty people in Saint-Etienne-de-Tinée that a fire broke out during its ascent towards Auron, for a still unknown reason. There are no casualties.
With a lot of composure, the driver had time to get the remaining passenger out and get his things, before everything caught fire. The fire spread to the surrounding vegetation. Four machines were on the spot quickly, others joined the sector around 11am.
The RM39 was closed to traffic one kilometer before Auron. It was restored around 12:45 p.m., after the end of the operation.
