A British family cremates the body of their deceased relative twice Mix

Ammon – A British family in Wales burned the body of a stranger whose body they received by mistake from hospital staff.

Health officials said a “human error” occurred at the morgue at Grange University Hospital in Cwmbran, South Wales, leaving a grieving family in shock.

After the funeral ceremony was held at the Sirhoy Valley Crematorium, the Health Board of Aneurin Bevan University discovered this mix-up and was forced to inform the family of the news, which in turn was forced to hold a second funeral for their deceased relative.

According to the Board of Health, the person who was mistakenly cremated had no living relatives.

Later, the hospital’s CEO, Nikola Prigodzic, met with the family, who went through the ordeal of holding two funerals in two weeks, and said: “We feel very sad about what happened to the family and we bear responsibility for this isolated incident.”

She added: “There are no words we can say, or actions we can take, that can put this right. We are deeply sorry, and we fully support the family.”

Prigodzic noted: “We would also like to reassure the public that this is an exceptional case. We have identified this error through our own operations, and after the initial review we are confident that this is due to isolated human error.”
