Fifteen-year-old Lucas from Florida is recovering in hospital from serious injuries caused by a shark. The boy was celebrating his birthday that day when a shark bit him on his leg while diving in the sea. He lost a huge amount of blood and miraculously survived. Now, after a few weeks in the hospital, he confided in his story.
Although Lucas Cruz has had a formidable experience, he can speak of immense happiness. At the beginning of August, on his 15th birthday, he was born for the second time. He celebrated with family and friends on a boat near the island Key Largo in Florida and took the opportunity to dive.
But that worked out for Lucas. He was attacked in the sea by a shark and caused extensive injuries. “I felt like something was pushing or pulling me. I thought it was a ship. I thought it hit me, but when I looked over myself, there was no ship. Then I realized. I haven’t seen it yet. as my leg fell, all I knew was that it was a shark, “the boy confided to a local television channel WSVN 7News.
After a while, Lucas’s mother started screaming, and when everyone realized what had happened, they pulled the boy on board. He lacked much of his calf on one leg, had injuries on the other leg, and was bleeding profusely. According to the diary The Mirror lost 70% of the blood, more than two-thirds.

“When I saw my leg, I thought I would lose it completely,” the boy recalls. He had to be transported to the hospital by air, by which time he was on the verge of death.
“When we took off the strangler, the whole middle part of the calf was missing. It was white as a sheet. It was unbelievable how pale it was,” said doctor Mark McKenney. The paramedics had to act quickly, Lucas fought for his bare life.
But now, after less than two months, he is well on his way to complete recovery. He still has a long course of treatment and rehabilitation, but the boy has already recovered from the horrible experience. He revealed that the incident did not deter him from swimming in the sea and he would return to the water as soon as possible.
Recently, doctors allowed him to attend school again. So far, however, he does not go there on his own, he uses a wheelchair to move.
