In one year, in October 2020, the book “Histoire de Fougères” is due to appear at the Presses Universitaires de Rennes (PUR) in the new collection “Histoire de ville” directed by Gauthier Aubert, professor of modern history at the University. Rennes 2.
The work, under the direction of Julien Bachelier, will present a history of the city of Fougères (social, cultural, religious, political and economic dimensions) within a collection comprising Bordeaux, Aix-en-Provence, Dijon and Mulhouse.
Évelyne Gautier-Le Bail, deputy mayor for tourism, said during the last city council:
“This project is of scientific and historiographical importance because the last history of Fougères dates from 1912-1914 (Chr. Le Bouteiller). The work takes stock of scientific and historical achievements and is written for the great ”.
The City will offer specific activities (colloquium, conference) on the occasion of the publication of the book. An agreement between the PURs and the city makes it possible to define and supervise the publication of the book. One hundred copies will be offered to the city of Fougères, which undertakes to contribute up to € 14,770 including tax to the completion of the work.
