It is likely that the citizens of San Luis Potosí will be lucky enough to see and/or find, from May 1 to 3, 2024, books in squares, transport trucks, benches, monuments, fountains or in some public space such as atriums, buildings or kiosks; If they see it, and take it, they will be part of the project: “A book found you”, which will be promoted by the participants of the 55 Mexican Conference on Library Science, Social Connection, Ethics and Disruptive Innovation in Libraries, a national program hosted by the UASLP through the Faculty of Information Sciences.
The project has been carried out in several cities and is an initiative that promotes pleasant reading and literacy; has been visiting entities for some years, through the exercise of leaving and giving away books, it is coordinated by Dr. Elsa Margarita Leyva, head of the General Directorate of Libraries of Digital and Information Systems of the UNAM, who has the mandate of flooding with books San Luis Potosi.
It is a reading initiative where each participant of the conference donates a book, new or used, which will be left in some corner of the city, accompanied by a small note from the program. Whoever finds the book must read it, so that The book on the street will find readers, hence the name of the project, “A book found you.”
The content of the books that will be distributed throughout the city will be selected by each participant of the Conference. They can be of all types and for all ages, classics, collectibles, stories, literary works by famous authors, Latin Americans, etc. .
The 55 Mexican Library Science Days are an event that takes place annually and is coordinated by the Mexican Association of Librarians who choose one entity per year. In 2024, it was up to San Luis Potosí to carry out the activity. More information about the event on Facebook: @ambac.mex
