Will Alves, just 17, had the opportunity to make his debut for Leicester’s first team against MK Dons on Tuesday. He asked to play for the under 18s the following day, against Wolverhampton, only to suffer a very serious injury.

Leicester manager Brendan Rodger has already lamented the injury of the youngster, who could be sidelined for nine months. “It’s a shame. We have lost one of our talents. Will Alves, who came into the game with MK Dons. He wanted to play for the young team and he had this opportunity. He played for the under 18s and suffered one of the worst injuries ever seen”.
