A BOLA – Two Portuguese candidates for the IFFHS (International) best ‘playmaker’ award

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has included Bruno Fernandes and Sérgio Oliveira in the list of 15 candidates for the 2021 Best Playmaker award.

Manchester United and FC Porto midfielders, respectively, face competition from Foden (Manchester City), Pedri (Barcelona), Kubo (Mallorca/Real Madrid), De Bruyne (Manchester City), Jorginho (Chelsea), Hojbjerg (Denmark, Tottenham), Reyna (Borussia Dortmund), Modric (Real Madrid), Muller (Bayern), Mason Mount (Chelsea), Messi (Barcelona / PSG), Barella (Inter) and Mahrez (Manchester City).

The winner will be announced later this month by the IFFHS, which recently named Luis Díaz and Taremi, both from FC Porto, for this year’s Best Player in the World award. Of course, Cristiano Ronaldo is also in this race: the Manchester United ace is the only Portuguese who can win the trophy.
