Portuguese swimmers Gabriel Lopes and Alexis Santos missed out on the semi-finals of the 200-meter style competition at the Tokyo Olympic Games.
Gabriel Lopes finished the fourth series in seventh place with a time of 1:58:56 minutes, the 21st record in the overall standings, next to Japan’s Dayia Seto (1:58:15) who finished 16th, the last place that gave access to the next stage.
Alexis Santos (1:59:32) was eighth and last in the sixth series, finishing in 28th place overall among the 45 swimmers who participated in the qualifiers.
In the 200 meters backstroke, Francisco Santos also failed to qualify for the semi-finals, finishing the qualifiers 22nd with a time of 1.58.58 minutes.
