A BOLA – «Sporting took a risky stance on João Mário» (Inter Milan)

Giuseppe Marotta, general director for football at Inter Milan, spoke this Wednesday about the accusation made by Sporting regarding João Mário, who terminated his contract with the Italian club and signed a contract with Benfica.

The lions issued a statement, stating that “an expedient was used for Inter and the player João Mário to seek to escape from what they signed with Sporting Clube de Portugal – Futebol, SAD in 2016” and that they would defend their interests at headquarters own, “holding the interveners responsible for the damage caused and for the non-compliance with the assumed obligations”.

Inter also responded in a statement, considering that the “accusations are unacceptable, extremely serious and, above all, unfounded, guaranteeing that it will “protect its image and reputation in the proper place”.

Faced with this scenario, Giuseppe Marotta, confronted by Italian journalists on the sidelines of the draw ceremony for the Serie A calendar, stressed: “Sporting took a risky stance and we reject all alleged accusations.”
