Sporting returned to triumphs after the defeat in the derby against FC Porto, and beat Póvoa, by 30-21 (13-12, at half-time), in a match counting for the 15th round of Handball 1, held in Póvoa de Varzim
Mamadou Gassama – 6 goals in as many shots – and Salvador Salvador – also 6 goals, including 5 in the second half – proved to be very effective in the chapter of shooting against the goal of Poveiros, being the best scorers in Ricardo Costa’s class. Francisco Costa and Francisco Tavares were also in evidence with four goals each.
In Jorge Carvalho’s team, Rui Ferreira was the best player in the shooting chapter, with four goals.
Sporting is the competition’s leader, but has played two more games than FC Porto.
