Barcelona ended the connection with Lionel Messi, announcing that it was not possible to renew the contract with the Argentine, due to economic and structural obstacles imposed by the new rules of the Spanish League.
The 34-year-old Argentine is therefore free to choose his future. The online edition of Spanish newspaper Marca points out that Manchester City will be, at this time, the best placed to receive Messi.
The English club, which has just signed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for a record value in England (close to 118 million euros), entered this summer hoping to secure a reinforcement for the attack. Harry Kane would be the target, but Tottenham doesn’t seem willing to give up the player easily, having turned down the first proposal of the citizens. With Messi available, Guardiola would certainly welcome the Argentine.
Paris Saint-Germain would also be interested (and capable). However, the French club took for granted a contract renewal with Barcelona and is focused on securing a contract renewal with Mbappé.
The North American League (MLS) has also been pointed out as the future for Messi. The brand, however, stresses that the striker intends to stay in Europe for a couple of years.
