This Wednesday, SAD do Benfica presented, in a statement sent to the CMVM, the results of the financial year for the 2020/21 season, highlighting the loss of 17.4 million euros, after having registered in 2019/20 a gain of 41.7 million euros. In the document, the red SAD recalls the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with many games behind closed doors, in addition to the team having failed to qualify for the Champions League. The retraction of the transfer market in a pandemic context also contributed to the negative result this year.
Assets currently stand at 523.3 million euros, an increase of 7.4 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and, for the first time, surpassed the barrier of 500 million euros.
Liabilities increased from 325.9 to 379.6 million euros, recording an increase of 16.5 percent compared to the previous year, reminding the eagles of the huge investment (about €100M spent on players) made in reinforcements for Jorge Jesus’ team. Personnel expenses also rose from 85.6 to 97 million euros.
