A BOLA – Rúben Amorim is A BOLA’s Man of the Year (Sporting)

Seldom has there been such a consensual personality to win the Man of the Year award for A BOLA, which is now in its 18th edition. It’s Rúben Amorim, the unlikely worker in winning a title that had fled Sporting 19 years ago.

Like the winner of the first trophy (José Mourinho, 2004), Rúben Amorim gave Portuguese football an injection of positivity. It brought energy (sometimes more, reason for some expulsions) and essentially a new discourse that could be taught in courses for the next Amorins: self-critical when necessary, aggregative most of the time and, above all, true. Captivating for those who work with him and for those who watch from outside. This is called charisma. And, it is good to say, it is something that is only available to a few.
