Portugal secured their qualification for the 2023 European Women’s Futsal Championship this Sunday, beating Italy 5-1, in the crowded Pavilhão Multiusos de Fafe.
Only a draw is needed to guarantee qualification, the truth is that Portugal not only won, but also beat the French team. At half-time the Portuguese were winning 1-0 with a goal from Fifó. Italy nevertheless reached equalizer for Rafa Pato, former Benfica, but Portugal immediately returned to the lead with a goal scored by captain Ana Azevedo. Pisko scored 3-1 and Cátia Morgado scored twice in the closing moments, setting the score at 5-1.
In the end the party was Portuguese.
