Portugal was defeated by Russia (3-7) in the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup, which takes place in Dubai.
In a duel of titans, between the champion of Europe and the champion of the world, it was Russia that came in better, opening the scoring after just two minutes, through Kotenev. Portugal reacted well, had opportunities to draw, but it was again the Russians to celebrate, this time through Zemskov.
The start of the second period was marked by two goals from Portugal, who, within a minute, tied: André Lourenço and Léo Martins made it 2-2. However, soon after, Russia returned to the lead of the scoreboard, with a goal scored by Paporotnyi. And the last moments of this partial ended up being highly penalizing for Mário Narciso’s team, as the Russian team scored two more goals (Kosharnyi and Zemskov). Bernardo Lopes still managed to reduce to 3-5.
The final 12 minutes promised a national reaction, something that happened, but it was again Russia that showed more effectiveness at the time of submission, with Kosharnyi and Zemskov winning again, thus writing the final result: 3-7.
Portugal is back in action this Saturday (13.30 hours), in the dispute for third and fourth places, where it will measure forces with the winner of the game between Senegal and Iran.

Portugal practically lost, thanks to Kotenev’s goal, just in the second minute, but the truth is that Mário Narciso’s men reacted well to adversity and built several dangerous moves, and in some of them, the draw just didn’t appear. by sheer chance. The Russians, with the coldness that characterizes them, accepted the Portuguese domination and, in the seven minutes, Zemskov, increased the advantage.
