In the match played yesterday, Monday, between Sogndal IL and IL Stjordals-Blink, of the Norwegian Second League, the Icelandic player Emil Palsson, aged 28, suffered a cardiac arrest.

The home team player fainted after 12 minutes (Sogndal had already scored 1-0, at 7′, by Steffen Skalevik), having been promptly assisted by the medical teams present who immediately started the cardiac massage procedure, successfully , managing to revive Palsson in a matter of seconds.

The game was interrupted, fans were invited to leave the stadium and the Icelandic athlete would be transported by helicopter to the nearest hospital for further examinations and is in a stable situation.

This was not the first time that Sogndal IL was faced with a case of cardiac arrest, as in 2011 the same type of situation occurred with footballer Carl-Erik Torp who also survived and, as soon as he became aware, left a message of support for Emil Palsson through social media.
