Spaniard Eduard Lamas, from Benfica, is in FC Porto’s sights to reinforce the defensive sector next season, joining the expected return of Hélder Nunes, to end his bond with Barcelona, found A BOLA.
At the end of his contract with Benfica, the Spanish defender/midfielder will not be part of the squad for next season and should join FC Porto, which will lose a foreign player with the departure of Xavi Barroso to Barcelona, it seems in exchange for Hélder Nunes.
Eduard Lamas arrived at Benfica in July 2019, coming from Liceo da Corunha. He has been one of Benfica’s most used defenders, with more appearances in the last two seasons compared to Barcelona signing Nil Roca. But in addition to this Spanish international, Eduard Lamas faces competition from another foreign player who can play in a more defensive sector, the universal Frenchman Roberto Di Benedetto, brother of the FC Porto striker with the same nickname, Carlo Di Benedetto. Both younger than the powerful 32-year-old defender. Benfica also has two other players in the defensive axis, the Portuguese Diogo Rafael and Daniel ‘Poka’ Oliveira.
One problem is the limitation of foreigners forcing the management of the squad in the matches of the Portuguese competitions and Benfica already has six available this season, after arranging placement for the young Pol Manrubia at Liceo da Corunha. Or would it be seven foreigners when you can only enter five per game.
