Miguel Oliveira (KTM) improved two places compared to the last qualifying and starts on Sunday from 18th place on the grid for the Grand Prix of Aragon, the 13th race of the Mundial.
The Portuguese driver was 13th in free practice and did not get a direct ticket to Q2, reserved for the best times. He ended up being eighth in the first phase of qualifying (Q1).
Italian Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) took pole position and at the same time broke the circuit record, with a time of 1,46,322 minutes
Australian Jack Miller (Ducati) was second, 0.366 seconds off the fastest, with Frenchman Fábio Quartaro (Yamaha) in third, at 0.397 seconds.
“It was a bit strange qualifying after the good feeling in the fourth free practice. We encountered some difficulties with the new tires and a strange vibration, which we still don’t understand if it comes from the tires or the motorbike», explained Miguel Oliveira.
