Facing KTM braking problems, Miguel Oliveira did not go beyond 19th place on the first day of free practice for the MotoGP Great Britain Grand Prix, which takes place tomorrow at Silverstone.
The Portuguese took 2,01,412 minutes in the best lap of the circuit, finishing 2,095 seconds behind the fastest, Frenchman Fábio Quartararo (Yamaha). Between the two sessions, Miguel Oliveira improved 1.2 seconds.
On a day marked by the falls of the Spaniard Marc Márquez (Honda) in the first session, when he was going at 270 kilometers per hour, destroying the bike, and of Quartararo, causing pain in his left foot, the rider praised the «good condition» of the circuit. He only complained about the “cold air, which makes it difficult to warm up the tyres” and causes problems in terms of braking. Despite the clouds, the rain did not fall and the track temperature hovered around 14 degrees.
Miguel Oliveira also took the opportunity to try a hard compound tire at the rear, but revealed that «the feeling was not fantastic». Return to the circuit today for new tests and decisions to be made for the race.
