After several hours of discussion and controversy throughout this Tuesday, the Board of the General Assembly of Vitória de Guimarães decided to admit to vote the list MAIS VITÓRIA, headed by Miguel Pinto Lisboa, current president. The doubts about the legality of this list had to do with possible irregularities in the signatures of the proponents, something that the Board, “after analysis”, effectively detected. In practice, says the body in a statement, there were “signatures that may raise doubts about their authenticity”, although it does not conclude that there is “the practice of forgery”.
The Bureau also decided “to make the Jurisdiction Council aware of it for analysis and possible participation to the judicial authorities.”
For the candidate Alex Costa, who stands for the list YES VITÓRIA, the decision of the Board “embarrasses Vitória”. The candidate of that same list for the presidency of the General Assembly, Rui Vaz, has also already declared the existence of “false signatures”, one of which will be his own. “One of them was with my name, my signature, a signature that nobody asked me for,” he said in a press conference.
Alex Costa promises to take the case to its ultimate consequences.
As for the list UM VITÓRIA POR TODOS, led by António Miguel Cardoso, it has also made known to all other agents involved in the electoral process and representatives of all lists that it will present “participation to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for it to investigate the possible practice of any crime of forgery.
