The gala of the League draw was marked by a heartfelt tribute to Neno. The former Portuguese international passed away on June 10, 2021, aged 59 years.
In order to remember Neno, the League decided to name the fair-play award with the name of the guardian who had spells in Benfica and Vitória de Guimarães.
Moreirense (Liga) and Covilhã (Liga 2) thus became the first two teams to win the Neno award. Luis Díaz (FC Porto) and Ivo Gonçalves (Vizela) won in individual terms.
