A BOLA – LaLiga supports clubs that do not want to give players to national teams (Spain)

Similar to what is happening in the Premier League in England, the Spanish Football League announced this Tuesday that it supports Spanish clubs that decide not to hand over players for the squad for selection matches in South America.

«Concerning FIFA’s serious unilateral decision to extend the international period for the Conmebol confederation, without considering other solutions presented at the World Leagues Forum, LaLiga wants to communicate that it will support in all spheres the decision of Spanish clubs not to release their players from selection for the Conmebol call. So far there are 25 players from 13 clubs, a number that could increase when Ecuador and Venezuela’s squads are known. The world calendar cannot and should not be modified in this way, especially if there are alternative solutions», reads the statement.

LaLiga will call the affected clubs for a meeting to be held in the coming days.
