Through a statement, Benfica went public with revealing that the Central Administrative Court of the South had rejected the request to decree precautionary measures aimed at suspending the 15-day punishment applied to Jorge Jesus.
Clube da Luz explains that it will now pursue the appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD), but, in the absence of a timely decision, the coach, who was already off the bench in the match against Covilhã, will also fail the games with Marítimo (for the championship, next Sunday) and with FC Porto (for the Portuguese Cup, next Thursday).
Here’s the release:
«Sport Lisboa e Benfica informs that the President of the Central Administrative Court of the South has rejected the request to decree precautionary measures aimed at suspending the 15-day punishment applied to its coach Jorge Jesus, after deliberation by the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Federation of Football.
The appeal of the disciplinary decision now proceeds with the normal procedures at the TAD and, in the absence of a timely decision, Sport Lisboa e Benfica clarifies that João de Deus, assistant coach, will guide the Benfica team in the match with Marítimo Sport Clube, as well. as in the next round of the Portuguese Cup.
Coach Jorge Jesus will again lead the team on the pitch on the 16th round of the Championship.»
