João Henriques devalued a scenario of eventual administrative descent to Liga 2 at the end of the season, a scenario raised a few days ago by the president of Belenenses SAD, Rui Pedro Soares.
“Each one has to answer for his words. We were even a bit surprised by what happened, but we just focus on our work and what we can control. We were already unfairly criticized when we went to the Azores [por não aceitarem adiamento do jogo com o Santa Clara devido a vários jogadores estarem ausentes com Covid-19] and now we had a different situation. Everything continues to pass completely by the side», he said in the preview of the game against Famalicão, on Sunday, of the fifth round of the League.
«I want to extend a word of appreciation to the great professionals of Moreirense, who will have an extraordinarily difficult championship, because we all know that Moreirense was convicted of sporting corruption and will, at the end of the championship, go down administratively. The Portuguese Football Federation has already carried out the court’s sentence. Therefore, I want to leave a word to the great professionals of Moreirense, who played an excellent game. My solidarity remains”, said the president of Belenenses SAD on 27 August, after the teams tied (1-1).
«When the referee whistles, we are looking for victory. It’s the only thing we can and must do: good games and performances, help the club achieve its goals and value assets. That’s how we’re going to get all together now to add the first victory. It is the best response we can give to these situations», said João Henriques.
As for the game with Famalicão, he wanted Moreirense to “find the little star”: “It will be a Moreirense in the image and similarity of what happened so far: a competitive team and, hopefully, with a little more star. We are needing the display to match with dots.”
