The luxury eleven that Estrela da Amadora’s SAD contracted in recent weeks is closed.
We are talking about the list of ambassadors of the tricolors, a project carried out by André Geraldes and his peers, whose main objective is to return to the reality of the club’s former glories.
After having been introduced Abel Xavier, Gaucho, Jorge Andrade, José Calado, Jorge Jesus, Carlos Chainho, Daniel Kennedy and Rebelo, A BOLA is able to announce the three names that were missing to compose the eleven: João Alves, Basaula and Rui Snows.
João Alves, the mythical Luvas Pretas, coached Estrela on two occasions (from 1988 to 1990 and, later, from 1992 to 1994) – he led the club to the Portuguese Cup in 1989/1990 and managed to rise in the division in 1992/1993, winning the then Honor Division – and is, therefore, another unavoidable name in the history of amateurs.
Basaula, former attacking midfielder, wore the tricolor jersey between 1988 and 1990, being part of the team that won the premier competition of Portuguese football, precisely under the command of João Alves, was also another of those chosen to incorporate this initiative.
Rui Neves, another of the big names in the entire history of Estrela da Amadora, a club he represented while still in formation and, later, for another 15 years as a senior, wearing the captain’s armband for most of his career.
These 11 elements will now form a sports advisory board, which will work very closely with André Geraldes, as well as having a very important role in other areas, such as social action and marketing of Estrela da Amadora, both in Portugal and abroad. . This ambassadors’ project, it should be noted, was recently recognized by the League, which, as A BOLA online also announced, will deliver to the amateur emblem the Marketing and Communication award from the body that oversees Portuguese football, for the month of September. The ceremony, it should be noted, should take place in the next few days.
