Kazunori Yamauchi addressed, during a digital event, several changes registered in the game that reduce the difference between the game and reality: “Immersion in the game depends on several aspects. With Gran Turismo 7 we’ve substantially improved the graphics, we’ve brought ray tracing. In the past it took massive computers to do these kinds of effects, but that has now changed. We worked a lot on the sound, the way we recorded it allows it to be even more realistic. The use of Dualsense in terms of vibrations. All these details together add to the realism.”

Artificial intelligence is a very important aspect and the creator of this franchise acknowledged that it has been worked on: “It is an aspect that we are always trying to improve, to increase the aggressiveness in the pursuit of the driver, but it is something that can still evolve, because there is room for that to happen. »

The issue of having dynamic weather and changes to rain in real-time races was also addressed: “We are going to have races with rain and different environments that impact driving and that situation is a lot of work because it interacts with the car.”

About the possibility of racing in the snow, Kazunori Yamauchi explained that at the launch of the game this type of racing will not be available, but that in the future, a possible update may appear.

Gran Turismo’s sky has always been highly praised because it looks close to the real thing. Now, in GT7, Yamauchi revealed that they have taken another step forward: “During the night races the player will find a realistic sky, because we use information directly collected by NASA.”

GT can be complex especially for beginners, but the creator of Gran Turismo pointed out that the Café helps, because it’s a kind of map and it has things you can do in the game. You learn about cars, who built and produced them.”

One of the big changes compared to the previous game is the number of cars since day one. Yamauchi confirmed that around 400 cars of all types will be available. We will be able to buy them using a new system. That could be new, used cars at more affordable prices and legendary or extremely expensive cars that could have been made 100 years ago. These lists are undergoing changes and new cars are added.

The creator of this iconic franchise was asked what his favorite car and circuit was, but Yamauchi revealed that he can’t choose a car or circuit. He only admitted that some tracks “request” certain types of cars and gave him the example of Nurbugring, where he prefers German cars.

Kazunori Yamauchi also addressed the evolution of Gran Turismo over these 25 years: «When we launched GT it was seen as an experimental game. We were a family of 15 people and now we are a family of over 300 people.”
