Portugal beat Switzerland (6-4), in the third round of Group B of the first stage of the European Beach Soccer League. It was the third consecutive victory for the team from the corners.
The National Team reached the last period losing by 2-4, thanks to goals from Hodel (4′, 22′ and 23′) and Steinemann (23′). However, Léo Martins (14′, 22′ and 30′) kept alive the hope of a comeback sealed by Bê Martins (33′, 34′ and 35′).
With this result, Portugal leads the group with nine points and knows that it has already secured a place in the final four, which will be held in September in Italy. The corner team will still face Poland to decide whether to take first or second place.
Less fortunate was the women’s national beach soccer team. The defeat against Spain (1-5), also in the third round of the first stage of the European League, postponed the qualification for the final four. The quinas team shares the leadership with the Spanish and Italians and can seal the passage to the decision in the England and Ukraine matches, scheduled for September.
