A BOLA – Derby left the resort devastated (Benfica)

The defeat in the derby against Sporting and the strong reaction of the supporters left the Benfica players devastated.

It’s true that Benfica has no other solution to progress in the Champions League than to beat Dynamo Kiev on Wednesday, at Estádio da Luz, and even so they will have to hope that Barcelona don’t win their home game. Bayern Munich to qualify for the last 16 of the Champions, but this European challenge, after what happened on Friday, the 1-3 defeat against Sporting in the championship – and especially the way they lost that derby, with an ascendant tactical and exhibitional opponent too clear -, became much more charged with responsibility for the team led by Jorge Jesus.

At the end of the game with Sporting, the supporters – and there were more than 48 thousand in the stands of Luz – whistled the players and showed many white handkerchiefs, these mostly asking for the coach to leave. The expressions of displeasure were even more marked when the players went to the stands and waved to the fans.

The squad meets again this Monday.
