Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne, from Belgium, was named Premier League player of the year by the Professional Players Association (PFA).
The 29-year-old midfielder wins the award, attributed by a vote of his professional colleagues, for the second year in a row, becoming the third player to achieve such a record, after the French Thierry Henry (2002/03 and 2003/04) and the Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo (2006/07 and 2007/08).
“It’s crazy. They’re talking about two football legends – one of the best strikers and one of the best two players in the world – so doing the same thing is crazy», commented De Bruyne, who played 40 games for citizens last season, scoring 10 goals and signing 18 assists.
Remember that Rúben Dias, also from Manchester City, was elected the best player by the Premier League itself and also by the association of British sports journalists.
