A BOLA – Brazil draws in Ecuador in a very rough game (2022 World Cup)

Already qualified for Qatar, Brazil went to Ecuador to draw 1-1, in a game on the 15th round of the South American qualifier for the 2022 World Cup.

In the 6th minute, Casemiro opened the scoring in favor of Brazil and in the 15th minute there was the first of three red cards shown in 15 minutes, although only two were valid. Ecuadorian goalkeeper Alexander Dóminguez, after an aggression against Matheus Cunha, was sent off and five minutes later it was Emerson Royal, Tottenham’s right-back, who saw the second yellow card and consequent red card.

In the 31st minute, Alisson hit an Ecuador forward in the head when he cleared a ball, he was sent off but the referee, after consulting the images in VAR, changed the color of the card and showed the yellow card to the Liverpool goalkeeper.

In the second half, and after a penalty in favor of Ecuador reversed by the refereeing team in VAR, midfielder Felix Torres, at 75′, signed the 1-1, but there would still be room for new refereeing controversy.

In the fifth minute of extra time, Alisson gave a penalty on Álvaro Preciado, hitting the Ecuadorian with his fists inside the penalty area, he was sent off again (second yellow card) but, after a new VAR consultation, the referee reversed the decision and the game would end even with 1-1 on the scoreboard, in a game in which each party had 10 more minutes than the regular 45…

Brazil now has 36 points at the top of the standings, while Ecuador, one of the big surprises in this qualifying, remains in 3rd, with 24 points.
