A “blue card” for the residence of foreigners will also serve for the production of fruits and vegetables – 2024-04-02 16:44:24


At an Advisory Council, the sector asked for faster disbursement of tied support and additional information on interventions and state aid

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Kiril Vatev discussed with branch organizations of producers of fruits and vegetables measures to support and increase the competitiveness of the sector during Advisory Board in fruit growing and vegetable production today at the Ministry of Agriculture.

The participants in the Advisory Council discussed received proposals from branch organizations, including those related to changes in the Strategic Plan for the Development of Agriculture and Rural Areas of the Republic of Bulgaria for the period 2023-2027. The branch organizations also asked questions about interventions on direct payments, state aid and regulations , the problems with the labor force in the “Agriculture” sector, the irrigation infrastructure, financial support for seedling production, the support for greenhouse production and the terms in which the State Fund “Agriculture” pays the aid for the production-related support.

Minister Vatev recalled that 24 projects were launched for the rehabilitation of irrigation facilities and informed about the efforts of the MAZ team to ease the regime for the construction of boreholes in agricultural holdings.

He informed about yesterday’s decision of the Council of Ministers related to the automated information system for issuing residence and work permits in Bulgaria or the so-called “Blue card”, which is expected to help fruit and vegetable producers as well.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food, Alexander Yotsev, presented information about the meetings held with the Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, where the issue of the state policy for attracting labor to the country was discussed.

The branch organizations pointed out that it is important for the producers that the support related to the production of the fruit and vegetable sector is paid out in a timely manner given the beginning of the main processing in orchards.

Minister Vatev presented the progress on the Bill on the supply chain of agricultural products and food.

Farmers were informed that the Ministry of Agriculture is waiting for proposals from the sector in relation to upcoming changes in Ordinance No. 10 of June 27, 2023 on the terms and conditions for implementing interventions in the field of environment and climate and animal welfare included in the Strategic plan.

The Chairman of the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets Vladimir Ivanov, representatives of SSA and BABH, Bulgarian Agrarian Chamber, Association “Bulgarian Vegetables”, National Union of Gardeners in Bulgaria, National Association of Potato Growers, Association of Fruit Growers in Bulgaria, participated in the Advisory Council. Union of Danube Fruit Growers, Bulgarian Association of Raspberry and Berry Growers, Dobrudja Fruit Growers Union, Bulgarian Organization of Greenhouse Produce Producers, Producer Organizations, National Association of Shell Fruit Producers and Processors, Bulgarian Association of Organic Producers, Union of Fruit and Vegetable Processors .
