A blind nurse from Krasnoyarsk can now come to work with a guide dog

This was reported by the Ministry of Health of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. Natalia Yushina, a nurse, works in the medical rehabilitation department of the vascular center of KMKB No. 20 named after I. S. Berzon. She is the only blind employee of the institution. The administration of the clinic met her halfway: she was allowed to come with a dog, and also set up a special place for her four-legged companion, where he would wait for her during work.

“It’s much more difficult for me to walk down the street without a dog. Previously, when I walked only with the help of a cane, I spent 35-40 minutes on foot, but now it’s half as much,” Natalia noted. “I would like to thank all the employees who took part in obtaining permission and creating conditions for safe movement to the workplace with a guide dog.”

The situation in the hospital is unusual, since animals and the hospital are usually not compatible. However, in this case, the administration considered the needs of the employee, carrying out preparatory work with the participation of social workers, lawyers and the trade union. A procedure has been created for admitting guide dogs to the hospital. On the ground floor there is a room where the dog named Sue will stay during the working day.

The press service emphasized that comfortable conditions have been created for Sue: the room is clean, warm, with lighting and ventilation, and there is also a comfortable bedding, drinking bowl and favorite toy.
