A bill in red will become cheaper from June | Banking

The cheaper rates are related to the fall in interest. This decrease is large enough to ensure that the maximum rates that the banks are allowed to charge, for example for customers who go below zero on a current account, decrease on 1 June. It has been since December 2012 that there was another change in the rates.

In concrete terms, the maximum tariffs concerned will decrease by 1 percentage point. For amounts up to 1,250 euros, the penalty interest, or the additional amount that must be paid in the event of payment arrears, is a maximum of 13.5 percent (and no longer 14.5 percent) with card and 9.5 percent without card. For amounts between 1,250 and 5,000 euros, this will be 11.5 and 8.5 percent. For even higher amounts, the interest is 10.5 and 8.5 percent.
