Maybe something like this happens once every few decades. Coins are then placed in a circulation that appears to be normal, but which includes some flaws. Because of that, they should be worthless theoretically, but that should not be the case in the Czech Republic, which is a promising country of numismatics. That is, the field of dog collection.

Something very strange

And as usual with collectors, they want to have any anomaly that appears in circulation in their collection. This is also why the most valuable pieces are often the ones that fail. Such should be destroyed immediately and should not have entered circulation at all. But it happens that they get into it, and that’s when the sport is taken seriously.

Now this seems to be true. There appear to be 20 poorly struck crowns in circulation, which have the same side and reverse, ie front and back. As the auction house Kendro Numismatika said, just such a coin came to its auction. At the same time, the owner got it back during normal payment​​​​.

In such a case, of course it is necessary to pay attention, because it could be a lie. But this piece received an NGC certificate confirming the coin’s authenticity. So it’s not a fake, which would understandably be worthless. It must be a serious mistake made by the Czech Mint. And that’s exactly what happened here. The coin was sold for 480 thousand crowns.

The check failed

At the same time, it is very likely that not only one coin has been circulated, but that there will be more. But how could it even happen? This is indeed a great mystery. The technologies at the Mint are advanced and such scratches should not occur. And if they do, product control should work, which would download them immediately and get rid of them.

So it seems something went wrong. Meanwhile, there is speculation that there will be many more of these coins. It is possible that they were removed from the mint by one of the workers who, by releasing a sample into circulation, tested the value of this piece. And now he can sell them gradually.
