The fire has mostly covered pine plantations near a villa area
A large fire broke out near the “Starite Lozya” cottage village in Kazanlak on Tuesday. The fire started near the Sofia – Burgas road, about 150 meters from a gas station. Traffic in the section of the Podbalkanskii road at the junction for Cherganovo was stopped in both directions due to the smoke. All drivers are waiting in place. Traffic is regulated by the “Road Police”, using a detour route Yagoda – Razena – Kanchevo – Rozovo – Kazanlak and vice versa.

There are also car dealerships in the area, whose employees drive their cars from there.
There are burnt villas. More than 60 acres of pine forest were burned. According to NOVA, the flames started from a grassy area near the military training ground, located a few kilometers from the Sub-Balkan road.
There are currently no reports of injured people. It is yet to be established how many properties are affected.
According to Stanimir Tonchev, head of the fire department in Kazanlak, there is no longer any danger to the gas stations, nor to the car dealerships nearby. “Cars and people were not injured, there are abandoned buildings covered by the fire. 55 decares of pine forest has burned. The causes of the fire will be clarified after it is extinguished,” he explained.
It became clear that a homeowner had cut down the trees himself to prevent them from setting fire to his home. The fire was stopped 5-10 meters from the gas station.
