A serious holiday fraud warning has been issued to bank customers.
One of the major banks in Bulgaria informs its clients that, in addition to the upcoming holidays, persons engaged in criminal activity become particularly active and fraud cases become more frequent. The bank advises you to be very vigilant and cautious in any contact from unknown traders or persons with you, regarding some of the most common fraud attempts such as:
Urgent withdrawal and transfer of funds on your part. In such situations, in no case do not proceed with the execution of the received instructions and immediately notify the law enforcement authorities by phone 112.
When making payments to online merchants, as well as when selling and buying goods on e-commerce platforms, always check the correctness of the sites before making a payment.
Do not follow links sent to you by third parties and do not enter your bank card details before you have convinced yourself of the correctness of the other party. Do not provide third parties with the dynamic password you received to confirm an online card payment in a phone conversation or chat application.
Be vigilant when paying on invoices, due to the occurrence of cases of fake ones. Always carry out a detailed check of the account and the details of your counterparties before ordering a transfer, especially when making a first payment to a new counterparty or if the account is different from the one you usually pay on.
Be wary of receiving messages that require direct entry of banking and personal information under the pretext of updating customer details, including: account number (IBAN), bank card, usernames and passwords for online or mobile banking. “Please keep in mind that ***** JSC does not request, through any channel, from its customers data related to their access to the applications, dynamic passwords to confirm a given online card payment or your card data”, they also reported from the bank.
