Sofia College “St. Kliment Ohridski” pronounces with deep sorrow that after a brief sickness, Prof. Maia Stefanova Pencheva – a well-known Bulgarian English scholar, a long-time cherished and revered trainer, scientist and popularizer of improvements in world linguistics, has handed away.

Prof. Maia Stefanova Pencheva, Ph.D., was born in 1947. In 1976, she joined the group of the “English Philology” division, of which she was the top from 2007 to 2010. Prof. Pencheva is the deputy rector of the Sofia College St. Kliment Ohridski College, he was twice deputy dean of the School of Classical and Fashionable Philologies (1985–1988, 1992–1994) and its dean in two consecutive phrases (1995–2003).
