(Need to tune the violins)

In recent months, the Beninese have not missed any opportunity to react to the various posts on the Head of State’s Facebook page. When we take stock, the criticisms are numerous, sometimes very harsh. Just yesterday, the message of the Head of State, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, did not escape criticism. Basically, in the comments, it is rather the fate of the failed candidate of the opposition party Democrats, in prison for alleged acts of terrorism and criminal association, which concerns many stakeholders. This March 8, 2021 when Patrice Talon paid tribute to women, whether in anonymity or in the spotlight, the complaint that often came up in the comments, it is the release of Reckya Madougou. In short, even on the Head of State’s Facebook page, the shadow of Reckya Madougou has hovered over International Women’s Day. Whether we like it or not, that constitutes a disavowal.

Some might say that it is not the eleven million Beninese or at least the majority who read the governance of the Rupture. Possible! But does this mean that we should not analyze these messages in a different way towards the leaders and the 1st magistrate?

Where it becomes more worrying is that beyond the person of the Head of State, his collaborators, former as well as current, are also paying the price. We still remember the recent posts of the deputy Up Sèdami Mèdégan Fagla, the former prefect Modeste Toboula, among others. Minister Modeste Kérékou, him, continues to wipe the anger of Internet users on his supposed evidence, brandished in the Madougou affair.

While it is true that in a country, not everyone can agree on governance at the top of the state, the fact remains that the government must carefully analyze the situation on the eve of an even more important election where pro-rupturists never stop blowing the trumpet of peace.

Even on YouTube on talk shows on political news where supporters of the regime intervene, the comments are not favorable to the power of Patrice Talon. Sometimes out of 150 comments, barely 02 go in favor of the defenders of the Rupture regime. In the absence of a credible poll, aren’t these criticisms of the government on social networks a barometer to be taken seriously?
