A man of foreign nationality, who was participating in the Marathon that takes place in Bucharest, died on Sunday, after being injured and was taken by ambulance to the Floreasca Hospital, tells Agerpres.
Dr. Bogdan Opriţa from Floreasca Hospital said that the man did not respond to resuscitation, when he was declared dead.
According to some medical sources, the man was of Filipino origin and was 75 years old.
The sources cited also said that he was known to be hypertensive and it is likely that he did not take his treatment.
The man was taken to hospital with resuscitation efforts, where he was pronounced dead.
He participates in the Marathon Masters World Championships within the Bucharest International Marathon.
The cardiac arrest occurred after he crossed the finish line.
The 17th edition of the Bucharest International Marathon is organized this weekend. As part of the Bucharest Raiffeisen Bank Marathon, the World Masters Marathon Championships are also held, dedicated to runners over 35 years old, in which 500 athletes from more than 40 countries have registered.
Over 12,000 runners took part in this weekend’s Marathon.
