The 62-year-old man traditionally sets new records on the eve of various holidays. He is 62 years old, but despite his age, he and young people take on new challenges every now and then.
While at school I played volleyball, football and basketball. After that I started running. My hobbies also include swimming, tennis, and pull-ups. Now I work as a wrestling coach. “I used to play a lot of hockey and work as a hockey coach,” said Omirzhan Omarov.
The athlete dedicates his victories to important dates. For example, in 2015 he rode a bicycle from Pavlodar to Moscow. He reached the capital of Russia in 22 days. He timed this achievement to coincide with Victory Day. And in 2021, for Independence Day, I swam 70 kilometers along the Irtysh.
In addition, elders often participate in walking marathons. One of them was 800 kilometers long and went around the entire Pavlodar region. The athlete completed this task in 12 days. He organized this campaign to attract the attention of young people to a healthy lifestyle.
Since 2002, I myself, as a citizen of Kazakhstan, have celebrated every national holiday with a 10-kilometer race. Then, in 2012, when the Vakhit mausoleum first opened, I ran a 21-kilometer marathon,” says the Pavlodar resident.
