Tragedy in the early afternoon today at the Trecate swimming pool in via Romentino, a 58-year-old man, Silvio Cattaneo, resident in the city, died of an illness while he was swimming. First the lifeguard tried to revive him, then an ambulance crew who tried in every way for more than half an hour, even a passing cyclist approached to help, but there was nothing to be done.
The victim was an experienced swimmer, even today he had arrived in via Romentino with the bag and only the card of the season ticket to the sports facility, without even the documents: he wanted to take a good swim and then go home or to work, in the polo petrochemical trecatese. The victim lived alone in the center of Trecate, in via Tasso 2, a side street of via San Cassiano, in a three-storey building.
