(CNN) – When the bullets sounded, Jordan Allen Jr., 5, was on the balcony of his Houston apartment confined to his home due to social estrangement and he and his father were doing videos from TikTok.
He died Monday, nearly a week after he was hit by a stray bullet in the shooting, CNN affiliate KTRK reported.
Jordan was not the target and there are still no known witnesses or suspects, according to the Houston Police Department.
Jordan’s dad Jordan Allen Sr. was playing with his son when he walked away to bring him some juice. Moments later, the family heard gunshots and Jordan asking for help.
“They all ran inside the house and the children ran inside the house, so I ran to the porch, and then I saw my son lying on the ground taking his head, asking for my help,” Allen told KTRK.
Allen was able to call an ambulance that took the boy to Texas Children’s Hospital, where life support was withdrawn days later. That was the last time Allen saw Jordan, whom he called the “happiest boy in the world” and a source of joy to anyone who knew him.
Police are investigating the shooting and do not have a description of the suspect’s car.
“Several casings were found in the parking lot and several cars were damaged by possible shooting,” police spokesman Jodi Silva told CNN.
Anyone with information about the shooting should contact the police.
