A 4th evening at the Montcuq text song festival

The entertainment world is at a standstill. And, given the latest announcements from Jean Castex, it could well last. The 2020 edition of the Montcuq song-text festival had to be canceled, like most artistic events, as did the Montcuq show in Ivry-sur-Seine scheduled for December 5 and 6, 2020 at the Forum Léo -Ferrer. What will happen in 2021? The singer and artistic director of the festival Gérard Morel provides some answers.

Do you still hope to see the 16th edition of the festival take place in July 2021?

We act as if the festival took place, even if it is difficult today to say what the conditions will be to fulfill, especially at the level of the gauges. We are ready to adapt to the constraints that will be in effect at that time, especially for meals.

Is the programming definitively stopped?

All the artists scheduled for 2020 have confirmed their presence for the 2021 edition scheduled from Thursday July 15 to Sunday July 18: Claude Semal and Jofroi on July 16, Nicolas Jules and Liz Van Deuq (in first part) on July 17, Enzo Enzo and Nour (first part) on July 18. This year we are organizing a fourth evening, July 15th.

It’s a novelty! What will be the content of this evening?

We will pay tribute to two great missing singers. In 2021, we are celebrating the centenary of the birth of Georges Brassens. We wanted to mark this anniversary by inviting Joël Favreau, known as “the second guitar” by Georges Brassens. The other part of the evening will be devoted to the great artist that was Anne Sylvestre, who died in 2020. She participated in the festival in 2012 during a concert anchored in the memory of Montcuquois and festival-goers. We are considering inviting the five female singers of the band Évasion who celebrate Anne Sylvestre in their show “Les hormones Simone”, conceived with the benevolent approval of Anne Sylvestre. It’s smart, funny, moving.

Will singing cafes be renewed?

They will take place every afternoon on the terrace of the Café de France. On the other hand, the meetings with the artists of the mid-day will perhaps be modified.
